Last weekend the June long weekend the club had a trip away to Quorn which was attended by 20+ people.
Some of us travelled up on Friday going through Clare and on up to Wilmington and on to Quorn. This used to be an easy trip but boy did we have a lot of roadworks to contend with but we all made it and booked into the Great Northern Lodge.
That night was Pub night the Austral Hotel, a good meal was had by all at a reasonable price (the rib I stake was great).
Saturday was a free day. Some travelled around the local area and some went up to the pound. Wilipena has changed since my last visit 40 years ago. The walking trails are wider but just as steep.
On Sunday we all gathered at the Railway Station for a memorable ride on the Pichi-Richi Railway down to Woolshed Flat & Bridge. When returning to the train we all had to swap seats view the other side of the tracks. After returning to Quorn, we had a little time to look around the town before meeting up for a BBQ tea under the balcony at the Lodge.
A must see is the light show on the grain silo each night about 5.00 – 6-00 PM. The show has sound track and highlights the local area landscapes and native life.
Monday was a free day to see more of the Flinders Rangers (some had to travel back home). The rest of us travel home on Tuesday.
