In this issue of the Club Magazine many events seem to focus on the weather but, when you think about 2016 in review, we really did not have a great Spring when it came to getting the Mustangs out of sheds and on to (dry) roads.
Who would have ever imagined that, by Sunday, October 30th, it was unreasonable to expect a fine and sunny day but, yet again, rain and strong winds combined to prevent many from coming along to ‘Know Your Mustang Day’.
Tony and Brenda had kindly invited Mustangs and their owners to their home at Kuitpo (and, perhaps more importantly) into a garage and up on the hoist. Acting on Tony’s suggestion, the plan was to put a few Mustangs on the hoist so we could look at and learn some things from a different perspective.
Thanks to the 5 ‘new’ Mustangs, 3 classics and 2 other cars that came along, we just managed to outnumber the resident ‘in house’ Mustangs, but not the Fords! Those present did not let that defeat stand in our way and so, first to go up on the hoist was Brett Casper’s 2015 Mustang. We had a look underneath and quickly realised it no longer looked as it must have when Ford originally shipped it to Australia. That said, it was certainly nice to see KPM’s work up close.
Next to go up on the hoist was Claude’s Coscia’s Mustang. Who there can forget the look of joy that crossed Vanessa Garcia’s face when Tony handed her an impact wrench so she could remove the wheel for a closer look at the Mustang’s front end?
There was even an opportunity for a surprise “emergency repair” during the afternoon, which was appreciated.
Our thanks go to Tony & Brenda for hosting another great day. We’re looking at making this an annual event and will certainly do what we can to arrange better weather next time.
