Sunday, October 9, 2016, saw us head off to the inaugural Auch ‘n Roll Festival to be held in Mt Barker. The event initially attracted several MOTM club members and approximately 45 cars from other Car Clubs around Adelaide.
The weather forecast, sadly, warned entrants to expect rain and strong winds and, of course, that detracted from the event because it was not congenial to taking out precious cars in those conditions. BUT let me tell you, readers…it’s true… “fortune favours the brave”. The weather was gracious enough to stay fine and sunny until 3pm and spectators enjoyed the atmosphere of old rockers dancing to the “Fantastic Wise Guys” Band. The ladies got right into the theme of the day by dressing in bobby socks and rock ‘n roll skirts, while the men did their bit by showing us how to jive and a few other tricky dance steps. Some ladies headed to the market stalls for much-deserved (so they said) retail therapy.
There were cars (and members) from the “Valley Hot Rod Club” and the other Mustang Club, as well as several other clubs. Here’s hoping that, next year, the weather is kinder to us so that we can impress everyone at the Auch ‘n Roll Festival with a strong turn-out of Mustangs.
Thank you to those club members who did attend – your support was much appreciated.
